Great Day BokashiFriendly microbe composting & more.
In 1995 Erik Nielsen visited Professor Teuro Higa of Ryukyu University in Okinawa, Japan, where he learned of a complex liquid based on different types of microorganisms. Under the supervision of Professor Higa, that same year Nielsen began a simple form of production of that liquid at his farm in northern Zealand, in Denmark.
Nielsen’s attempts to interest Danish farming researchers in the exciting possibilities of the product met with nothing but resistance. As the Danish University of Agriculture – who would normally be expected to conduct such research – was of the opinion that it was “unscientific” to mix microorganisms, experiments were conducted exclusively through about 800 farmers and gardeners, who used the product in conjunction with their practical production. A few of them were organic farmers, while others owned large, conventional and highly modern farms, where “Eureka!” and “miracle” cures are usually met with skepticism.
Among the farmers doing experiments were pig breeders. Not only do pigs in pens suffer from respiratory problems caused by the ammonium vapors deriving from manure, but pig breeders do as well. The breeders observed the pigs becoming healthier and more energetic after ingesting Erik Nielsen’s mixture, so they started drinking the microorganism liquid themselves.
What is Biosa™?
Friendly Microorganisms (FM) are a mixed culture of fermentative, soil-based, beneficial microorganisms which can be applied to many environments to break down organic matter. Some FM applications include:
When applied in agriculture, Biosa™ increases the microbial diversity of soil, thus, enhancing growth, yield, quality, and disease-resistance of crops. Biosa™ cultures do not contain any genetically modified microorganisms. Biosa™ is made of mixed cultures of microbial species that occur naturally in environments worldwide but which have decreased in many soils due to over-farming, and chemical fertilizer and pesticide use. The principal microorganisms in Biosa™ are:
Activating Biosa (AB)
The primary reason to activate Biosa is economy, not efficacy. It is perfectly acceptable to use Biosa without activating it. However, adding a sugar source and culturing the microorganisms ensures that the microbes are active. Once the following procedure has been followed, the end result will be a full strength culture of Biosa that can then be diluted and applied.
Materials: airtight plastic container, or large tank, 1 part Biosa, 1 part blackstrap molasses, 22 parts water. 3/4 cup Biosa, 3/4 cup molasses in 1 gallon of water.Procedure: Dissolve molasses in warm water and add Biosa. Activating Biosa is a mostly anaerobic process, thus the presence of excessive oxygen is not desirable. Keep the extension as warm as possible. If you keep the Biosa between 85-95F / 30-35C it should activate in approximately 4 days. If the extension is kept between 70-80F / 25-35C then allow for 5-7 days. Depending on technique and extension conditions, it may take anywhere from 4-14 days. Check the pH to ascertain when the process is complete; Biosa is ready when the pH drops to 3.7 or below. Do not use Biosa that has not dropped below 4.0. If your pH continues to drop to 3.0 or even 2.0 this is normal and indicates high microbial activity. The end product should smell slightly sweet and pickled. Activated Biosa, may last up to 1 month and should be used within this time. Do not extend an Biosa extension - the results cannot be guaranteed.
Confused? All I know for certain is that it works and while I may not understand how to make a fine wine [in the 1990's a company made a wine called "Rotting Grapes"], I can certainly enjoy the benefits. Why all this talk about wine? Because Biosa™ reacts with the environment and grows as it feeds and can be made more potent by brewing [Activating] it for a few days before using which increases the potency. This Activated FM can be diluted with water [as low as 2%] which makes it very cost effective.
I found out about Friendly Microbes while exploring ways to do bulk composting.I call Biosa a food for the future NOW.
The effects it gives has long lasting peacfulness of the body and life
force.
To my observences it has a calming feeling to it.
I think that there are way too many stressors on our surroundings as
it is but when there is a lot of stress put upon the grounds to NOT
grow other plants/herbs (herbacides) and there is stress placed on.
Growing food fast in smaller spaces (factory farms) and then people
eating all that stress......its no wonder there is such a 'cancerous'
society.
Its the food chain thing again.
The ground is stressed with poisons, the food from it, fed to animals, be they free range and not under stress, causes them a stress.
Take animals that are eating stressed foods and they themselves are stressed with overcrowding and force feeding due to extra light and availability of feed and they are REALLY stressed.
Compacted into these animals, sent to process, is a lot of stress, now
humans (and our pets or other livestock fed 'animal byproducts') eat all
THAT stress and you could find that society is Really under a lot of
pressure.
Biosa, a fine mixture of molasses and herbs in this Lactic acid base
starts the relief of stressors.
The ground is given the opportunity to build its own energy release as
it recreates the proper microbials that are already found where it is
and then as other green manures and animal manures are added it starts
to give back the true life forces the earth was created to give.
When the green manures are raised in this enviroment of brimming
microbs then it is not stressed. When animals are given the Biosa
product it has a healthful effect on them and in turn they expell
microbes that they don't need but will replenish the soil.
Now, Feed that animal the plants that are raised in the calm vibrant soils and give them the Biosa and health can only abound.
Now, you eat the animal or plants from this type of agriculture and take Biosa yourself and there you are releived of the food chain stresses.
That is why I like to call this product
"Bio Integrel Organic Sustainable Agriculture"
B.I.O.S.A. Maybe not its original intentions but by far a good discription.
